What if the conversation is the thing getting in the way of real change?
We spend enormous amounts of time designing strategies, structures, processes and programmes. But much of what determines whether those things work happens in conversation.
Who gets heard.
What gets left unsaid.
Which assumptions nobody questions.
How power shapes what people are willing to say.
What happens when people disagree.
Whether people can stay with uncertainty long enough for something new to emerge.
design elementals
Conversation Architecture®️ is an organised way of seeing and working with those conditions.
It's a relational and situational approach to understanding what is happening between people in a particular conversation, project, team or system.
It isn't a personality assessment.
It isn't a set of facilitation tricks.
And it isn't about making difficult conversations comfortable. It's about understanding the conditions that shape what becomes possible and deliberately designing for better outcomes.

The Diagnostic helps you understand your conversation capacity and reflect on how the conversations that you're part of are architected.
What does that mean?
Your conversations shape your strategies. Our Diagnostic reveals the patterns that influence those conversations; like how you navigate power, handle conflict, and create conditions for breakthrough.
Working with the eight Elementals, the Diagnostic invites you to be curious about what's supporting your efforts or holding you back from real connection and meaningful action.
It's the vital first step in how you craft strategic decision-making.

Inclusion
Who brings what perspectives? Whose voices get amplified versus overlooked? What viewpoints are missing entirely?
Assumptions
What beliefs drive thinking but never get questioned? Which stories does this group tell itself about how change happens?
Change
How much emergence can this system handle? What's the appetite for disruption versus comfort with familiar patterns?
Conflict
How does tension get handled? Is disagreement seen as threat or creative fuel? Can people stay engaged when things get difficult?
Relational
Can people show up authentically or do they perform their roles? What enables genuine expression versus safe positioning?
Seeing your Patterns.
Honest self-examination is uncomfortable work.
Not the kind that comes from ticking boxes on a leadership assessment, but the deeper interrogation of contradictions where what we believe about ourselves doesn't match how we actually show up.
The patterns don't come from individual scores from the Diagnostic. They come from examining relationships between Elementals - the gaps, the contradictions, the places where capacity in one area fails to translate to another. We've identified 12 that we find really interesting.

For teams, collaborations or collectives we have developed an assessment that reveals where there is group alignment and divergence in the patterns that come up for people. We call these Collective Dynamics.

What happens next?
Once you've processed your patterns; what comes up and what doesn't, you get to do the real work. What needs to happen to make sure everyone is prepared for the conversation/ strategy session that you need to have?
Maybe there's some work that needs to be done at an individual level, maybe there's some group prep, maybe the way that you design the space, what gets discussed and how needs a rethink. The Conversation Architecture®️ Principles and Materials then come into play to help support that process for you.
